Equipment Recommendations
The following are just some basic guidelines as to what to bring on your trip to make it pleasant and enjoyable. Our trip dossiers, available as PDFs, contain more trip-specific equipment suggestions.

Clothing
Since the destinations of our trips differ greatly, please refer to the individual trip dossiers for clothing information. You can find links to the dossiers in the left sidebar of the respective trip pages.
Camera Equipment
We assume that you are familiar with the basic functions of your camera and lenses, and that you will already know, what you want to bring. Just keep in mind, that some of our trips involve a bit of walking and that you’ll need to carry not just camera equipment, but also food and clothing, so don’t go overboard.
Tripod
A sturdy tripod is essential. A carbon-fiber tripod with a ball head and quick-release plate is a good choice in terms of weight and flexibility.
Memory Cards, Film
Memory cards and/or film are best purchased before you set off – always bring more than you expect to use. Instead of one or two large-capacity memory cards rather carry several smaller cards. If you bring a laptop to download and review your images, you will be fine with fewer memory cards.
Filters
Polarizers, neutral density and graduated neutral density filters are commonly used by landscape photographers. While some of these filters’ effects can nowadays be achieved in software, they still have their place.
Camera Bag
If you pick a camera rucksack, make sure it offers some spare room to store additional items such as food and clothing.
Alternatively you might consider a medium-sized rucksack and a separate, well-padded camera bag with rain cover. In the worst case, you should be able to fit the camera bag inside the rucksack.
No rucksack is totally water proof, so either bring a rain cover or a simple bin liner to place inside the rucksack.
Batteries and Chargers
Spare batteries for camera and/or laptop are a must as we might not always be able to recharge daily; if in doubt bring more.
In Iceland, Spain and India two-prong European electrical outlets are standard, so make sure to bring suitable adaptors.
Laptop
The development or post-processing of images is a key part of the digital workflow. Therefore we recommend that all participants bring a laptop allowing them to take advantage of the full scope of tuition we offer. Laptops will usually be sent ahead with the bulk of our luggage to the next destination, so they need to be protected in a padded case.
