General Summary
Introducing a breathtaking expedition into the remote, vast and uninhabited interior of Iceland giving us some unique opportunities to photograph, immense lava flows, deserts, powerful waterfalls, azure blue crater lakes, majestic mountains, volcanoes and glaciers including Europe’s biggest Ice cap Vatnajökull and the remote, little visited glacier Þórisjökull. Our expedition will finish with a day exploring the National park of Þingvellir, and the relatively quiet and active geothermal area around Nesjavellir; a truly wild and unique opportunity for serious landscape photographers who are prepared to put in that ‘extra mile’ for their images.

Day 6-7 – Askja
We will spend two days here exploring the area around Öskjuvatn. The water in the caldera of caldera that remained following the eruption of Askja in 1875 is strikingly blue. From Askja we follow the great Vatnajökull South West through Vonarskarð pass to Nýidalur oasis.
